WOMAN'S DAY

March 8, International Women's Day. A celebration established to remember the social and political achievements of women, but also to highlight the discrimination and violence that the fair sex has suffered and continues to suffer in every corner of the world. Its origins date back to the early 1900s, when it began to be celebrated in the United States.

Despite the many legends circulating (fire in a factory), Women's Day was born as Woman's Day, the Day of the Woman, May 3, 1908, when during a conference of the Socialist Party of Chicago, the socialist Corinne Brown took the word discussing the exploitation made by the employers towards the workers ".

The choice of mimosa as a flower symbol of the celebration dates back to March 8, 1946. Three women registered in "Unione Donne Italian" (Udi): Rita Montagnana, Teresa Noce and Teresa Mattei, proposed to use this flower as it blooms right in the first March days.
